Dr. Krunkles

Dr. Krunkles (Side Project #20), Terrapin Brewing Co., (American) Belgian IPA, 7.3% ABV

Pouring a cloudy gold, this delightful and complex battle of strong tastes (Belgian yeast, strong IPA hops, white ash oak aging) remains fresh, drinkable and inviting. The white oak and light peach freshness pairs nicely with the yeast and then lingering wheat taste. Haven’t gone wrong with a side project yet, wish mine were that good (Wait…I mean…this blog is excellent).

Key West BrewFest (PHOTOS)

A breathtaking retreat for the beachy beer lover, Key West BrewFest brought together some of the best new and established breweries from around Florida and the nation this past Labor Day weekend. As a five-day long event, the fest included educational seminars, tap takeovers, foot races, beer breakfasts (lunch and dinners) and of course a grand tasting event right on the sands of southernmost South Beach. The following are photos taken from that event. Enjoy!

Seriously though, this made me want to move. Can’t wait to extend the trip next year.

Mosaic

Mosaic, Terrapin Beer Company, Rye Ale, 6.6% ABV

Hearty rye aroma leads to a well carbonated, earthy, slightly piney, hoppy blend, with a darker rye tinged taste which adds complexity. Bready rye linger that’s still wet, making it well balanced.

Hop Karma

Hop Karma, Terrapin Brewing Co., American Brown Ale, 6% ABV

Pours a murky brown with a spiced malt aroma. Interesting blend of herbal, earthy hops with a traditional brown ale taste.
